LifeBridge Church: Continuing the Journey

The journey of LifeBridge Church started two years ago under the leadership of Pastor Dave Perkins, and the journey continues today. LifeBridge launched Sunday morning services in March of 2016, when they began meeting in the Liberty Union High School auditorium. But the first leg of their journey started over a year before that, as church members gathered in homes and focused on the road ahead. They also began serving in the area, helping as ushers for LUHS musical events and also joining the Baltimore Downtown Restoration Committee in the exciting work being done on the renovation of the beautiful Victoria Opera House.

Ribbon Cutting with Mayor Brad Nicodemus

Following the launch of services at LUHS, LifeBridge worked with the mayor’s office to start a new, family-friendly event in Baltimore: Movies in the Park. On Friday nights throughout the summer, hundreds of families came out to enjoy free movies and popcorn with their neighbors in Johnson Park. Movies in the Park was repeated in 2017, and LifeBridge looks forward to co-hosting this event with the Village of Baltimore for years to come.

Johnson Park was also the location of the first Vacation Bible School for LifeBridge in 2016. Sixty individuals, adult volunteers and local children, participated in a fun, outdoor week of VBS. Fall of 2016 was filled with serving through groups gathering weekly and in December, LifeBridge Church held their first Christmas Eve Candlelight Service in The Griley House.

June of 2017 marked a significant milestone for LifeBridge, as they took possession of their new location at 1001 S. Main Street in Baltimore, between Cristy’s Pizza and Ma-Maw’s Diner. In six short weeks, this site was renovated and ready to accommodate Sunday services, Vacation Bible School, weekly LifeGroup meetings, community events and a variety of other events for people of all ages.

Pastor Dave and Emily Perkins

At the end of October, LifeBridge invited the community to celebrate this highlight in their journey through a series of grand opening events over several days. They kicked off the celebration with a Trick or Treat night Open House that included pumpkins, treats, face painting, and giveaways like a Huffy bike and gift certificates to local restaurants. The weekend then included a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Major Brad Nicodemus on Friday and an OSU indoor tailgate party on Saturday. The grand opening weekend was rounded out on Sunday with a celebration service followed by a free showing of the movie “The Case for Christ,” as a wrap-up to a four-week message series titled “Exploring the Evidence.”

So what’s to come with LifeBridge? “It’s been an incredible journey so far. I believe that greater things are still ahead. Having our own space opens up an unlimited number of ways to serve our community week in and week out,” said Pastor Dave Perkins. LifeBridge Church holds worship services every Sunday morning at 10:30 AM, and their current message series, “Entrusted,” will take them through November. Children will enjoy LifeBridge Kids at 10:30 AM as well. LifeBridge, a multi-generational church, has many opportunities for children, teens and adults of all ages throughout the week as well. December will bring a nostalgic message series, “Christmas Time.” And LifeBridge is looking forward to holding their first Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at their new location at 6:00 PM on December 24.

Pastor Dave reminds us that life’s pathways are often hard, but we were never meant to travel alone. “There’s a place here for everyone as we do life together,” he states as he invites the community to join in the journey with LifeBridge Church.
